Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit game lets you race around your home virtually for 1st time ever

NINTENDO has announced a new Mario Kart game in which players turn their homes into a racing track – but it costs a whopping £100.

Coming to Switch next week, the set comes with a remote-controlled Mario or Luigi kart, four cardboard gates and two arrow markers.

Gamers who splash out for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will place the gates around their home and then drive the karts through them.

But that’s not all: Each kart is loaded with an on-board camera that shows the path ahead on your Switch display, with your view featuring augmented reality characters, enemies and items overlaid onto your home.

“Drive a kart in the real world using familiar Mario Kart controls and see the action from your kart’s on-board camera displayed on your Nintendo Switch or TV screen,” Nintendo said.

“Watch as your home is transformed into ocean depths, a sandy desert and more from the world of Mario Kart!”

Racers can play against three of their mates or computer-controlled players across eight Grand Prix Cups.

“As you race around the course you made, you’ll see other racers trying to beat you to the finish line as well as items that you can collect to even the odds,” Nintendo added.

“Things that happen in-game will even affect how your kart moves in real life.

“If you use a Mushroom, your kart will get a small burst of speed, but you’ll come to a stop if you’re hit by another racer’s Red Shell.”

The new game is out October 16 and is available for pre-order now.

You and three mates can join a race if you all have the Mario Kart Live toys.

They don’t come cheap though: The basic set, which includes everything you need to play (bar a Switch console) and a single kart, costs £99.99.

A larger set featuring two karts and two sets of racing gear will set you back an eye-watering £209.99.

The racer is being released to mark 35 years since the launch of the landmark game ‘Super Mario Bros’[/caption]

The racer is being released as part of celebrations to mark 35 years since the launch of the landmark game “Super Mario Bros”.

Three titles featuring the moustachioed plumber – 1996’s “Super Mario 64”, 2002’s “Super Mario Sunshine” and 2007’s “Super Mario Galaxy” – went on sale on September 18 under the title “Super Mario 3D All-Stars”.

But the package is only available ’til March, so get your hands on it sooner rather than later.

The Kyoto-based firm also said it will release a version of the handheld Game & Watch device that will feature “Super Mario Bros”.
