Now the Government has “reminded” clubs below the sixth tier that they can let fans in for free — then make much-needed money on beers and burgers.

A club official fumed: “The bottom line is that the DCMS have actually reminded the FA that they were already allowed to allow some fans back a month ago.

Marc White, the manager and Chairman of Dorking Wanderers in the National League South said the club will lose £250,000 even if fans are allowed back in for October.

He told The Sun: “If clubs can’t have fans back soon then one by one they are going to get chalked off the list.

“I think the whole elite thing needs to be done away with, it’s irrelevant.”
